Where your data is stored
Where Skovrum keeps your workspace, what stays on your own device, and how long things are kept.
Your words may differ. Each workspace can choose its own words: a class might be a cohort, program or group, a learner a participant, trainee or new hire, a session a module or lesson. These guides use the default words. The steps are the same whatever your workspace calls them. Change your workspace's words
On Skovrum's servers
Skovrum is run from the United States and hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. Cloudflare provides the hosting, the database, file storage, sending email and the AI that writes summaries. Because Cloudflare runs a global network, your data may be stored and processed in countries other than yours. Where the law requires it, Skovrum relies on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses in its providers' terms.
Each workspace has its own database and its own file storage, separate from every other customer's.
Skovrum doesn't use any other provider for your workspace's content. The fonts in the app come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google's servers for them.
On your own device
To keep working when the connection drops, Skovrum keeps a few things in your browser:
- your preferences, such as light or dark;
- changes you made while offline that haven't been sent yet;
- a backup copy of your workspace data on that device.
All of it is cleared when you sign out. On a shared computer, always sign out when you finish. See Working offline.
Your sign-in is kept in a cookie that lasts up to 30 days. Skovrum uses no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long things are kept
| What | How long |
|---|---|
| Your workspace's classes, learners, notes and files | Until you delete them |
| A deleted file | Removed from storage straight away |
| An erased learner | Removed for good. See Archive, delete or erase. |
| The audit log | 365 days |
| Your workspace after you leave Skovrum | Deleted or returned to you on request |
To keep your own copy at any time, an Admin can download an encrypted backup.
