Action items
Turn something you need to follow up on into a task, right from your session notes.
Your words may differ. Each workspace can choose its own words: a class might be a cohort, program or group, a learner a participant, trainee or new hire, a session a module or lesson. These guides use the default words. The steps are the same whatever your workspace calls them. Change your workspace's words
An action item is a task you create from your session notes. It shows in the session's notes, where it happened, and on the Tasks screen with the rest of the team's follow-ups. It's the same task in both places, so checking it off in one checks it off in the other.
Add one
- In the note box on the session screen, click Action. If you'd already typed something, it's carried into the action item.
- Describe what needs to happen.
- Set the Priority: High, Med (the default) or Low.
- Set the Due date. It starts at today.
- Optionally click a trainer's initials under Assign to give it to them. Click again to unassign.
- Click Add & sync, or press Enter.
The class is tagged automatically. Action items are never private: the whole team can see them.

Follow it up
The action item shows its priority, its class and when it's due (Today, a date, or Overdue in red). Click the box to check it off.
On the Tasks screen the same item sits with every other open task:

- Who can check it off: the person who created it, the person it's assigned to, and Admins.
- Who can change it: the person who created it, and Admins. Click the pencil (Edit action) in the session's notes to open Edit task.
- Deleting it on the Tasks screen removes it from the session's notes too.
Replies to an action item are shared with the task, so a conversation started in the session also shows on the Tasks screen. See Replies.
Where the assignee hears about it
An assigned task counts towards their reminders on Today. If they get the daily email, it lists their assigned tasks that are due today or overdue.
Common questions
What's the difference between an action item and a learner to-do? An action item goes on the team's shared task list. A learner to-do is a trainer's follow-up about one learner, kept with that learner. See Learner to-dos and tasks.
I clicked the box and it un-ticked itself. Only the creator, the assignee and Admins can check off a task. Anyone else's change is reverted.
